Affective Computing

A robot points into the distance as people look on in the foreground.

Octavia, from the U.S. Navy Center for Applied Research, is a robot that was created to interact with people with the help of her movable mouth, eyeballs, eyelids, and eyebrows. Sadness, anger, confusion, excitement, and boredom are a few of the emotions that Octavia can express. (This image is in the public domain.)
